How to set up an industry-specific topic mapping.

In this article, you will learn how to apply Datamaran’s industry topic weights to your topic mapping.

Datamaran’s topic mapping and topic weight feature ensures that your analysis is as tailor-made to your company as possible.

Our data scientists have identified different default weights for each industry to provide you more guidance on how to set the weights for your company’s industry.

The industry templates give you an industry-specific mapping to focus your analysis on the topics that are more relevant to your company’s industry and allows industry-specific weights for topics within an issue.

To choose the default weights for your company’s industry:

  1. Open the Materiality menu and select the “Topic mapping” feature.
  2. In the “Topic mapping” page, click the “More options” button and select the appropriate industry from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click “APPLY”.
  4. This will automatically set all the industry weights to your mapping.

The data-driven weights pre-calculated by Datamaran range from 0% to 100%. A topic with a 0% weighting means that it is not relevant for the analysis and is displayed in orange with no bars shown in the weight icon. Those topics will be ignored in the materiality analysis.
